Excelling as a web analyst 3 Feb 2011

In the top most MNCs today, there is no dearth of technical skill in web analytics (or many other technologies) but often web analysts lack interpersonal skills and so professionalism.

One definition of professionalism in Cognizant which I believe is very appropriate is “How you look, talk, write, act and work determines whether you are a professional or an amateur”.

It goes on to explain “A professional learns every aspect of the job. A professional is focused and clear-headed. A professional jumps into difficult assignments. A professional faces up to other people’s upsets and problems. A professional persists until the objective is achieved”

Summarizes professionalism as always being “cool as a cucumber, graceful under pressure, while keeping the total focus on what one is supposed to be achieving”

I can bet on a sky rocketing 70% growth in ground breaking innovation if few of us would start adopting the above and work together. For we all know the amount of potential energy that lies untapped within the sleeping giants called “WEB ANALYSTS” in all those super big enterprises out there!

Challenges Facing a web analyst

  • Under utilization / wrong utilization
  • Lack of guidance from WA leadership
  • Lack of persistence on the web analyst’s part
  • Business decisions based on hippos than web analytic’s results
